Man’s inhumanity to man, and women, includes so much creative imagination applied so cruelly to fellow human beings that thousands of large-scale atrocities one would think would have been unthinkable are indelible parts of human history.
Somewhere hovering near the bottom of this abyss is the centuries-long enslavement of Africans to work in America.
The pain caused by this abysmal history can never be fully remedied. And should never be forgotten.
But it remains for us to be determined to rewrite the future, rather than repeat that history.
